Backstory
Katy Psenicka was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She began ballet and gymnastics at age 3, and was creating full length liturgical shows by grade school. In high school, she “evolved” as a creator, working up drill team and musical theater chorus routines. Katy attended The University of Dayton, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Management while immersing herself in the University’s contemporary dance ensemble, musical theater and dance team programs as a performer and student choreographer.

Psenicka joined the Shadowbox Live ensemble in 1994. She has made choreography a primary focus of her professional career, cultivating over 600 character-driven performing art pieces that tells stories through the medium of contemporary dance. Psenicka is also a versatile performer who has been featured in dozens of lead and supporting roles.

As the company’s Chief Operations Officer, Psenicka analyzes systems to improve overall efficiency for the ensemble, spearheads long-term strategic planning, develops and maintains the company’s rigorous and aggressive production schedule, and oversees the development of systems that manage the administrative needs of the company’s artistic endeavors.
Psenicka is a member of Shadowbox Live’s Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
