Backstory
Julie Klein was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio. She premiered onstage in 3rd grade, performing both a comedic monologue and a vocal solo in her elementary school’s talent show. After excelling in English and Creative Writing classes in high school, Julie graduated with a BS degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Ohio University.
Inspired by Barbra Streisand, Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner, Klein always wanted to pursue a career in the arts but had no clue how to go about it. In 1992, while working as a paralegal, a friend told her about a theater company that was holding auditions: ShadoArt Productions. She made a career change.
Theatrical Expertise
Klein initially joined Shadowbox Live as a vocalist – but soon became interested in sketch comedy. Her interest matured into a passion that led her to becoming a contributing writer and assistant director. In late 2017, Klein took the lead role in the company’s artistic development as its Producing Director. Since taking the company’s creative helm, Klein has produced and directed three of the highest-grossing productions in Shadowbox Live’s history (Evolutionaries, Leather & Lace, and Thunder & Lighting).

As CMO, Klein develops Shadowbox Live’s ticket sales and advertising strategies, coordinating efforts across print, radio, television, and digital media outlets to promote the company’s year-round production schedule.
Klein is a member of Shadowbox Live’s Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
